Steven Soderbergh went in a direction that nobody expected, least of all himself Lem. What we see on the screen, is a record of our masks, poses and psychosis, and not a show of special effects. With such a concept of an image much more interesting than literal visualization of books, most of which is expected (me too).
We are dealing with a poetic impression, not a mediocre adaptation, like "Minority Report" or "Time Machine". The film is a great psychodrama and although the "history of the alcove" replaced the problem here contact inhuman, watching this production Soderbergh, feel the spirit of the novel.
