Kosher salt or Koshering salt, also called sea salt, is coarse and semi-solid salt with no common additives like iodine. Used primarily in the kitchen and not on the table, kosher salt comes only from the Sea of Galilee. Salt is made from mineral salts that have been ground and filtered into fine granules.

Kosher sea salt contains traces of iodine and traces of boron nitride, making it one of the most hygienic forms of sea salt. It is used primarily for cooking, both hot and cold and for salting meat. It is less expensive and less dense than sea salt and can be used in baking recipes.
